White Phosphorus is a direct way to kill thousands of people and is: falling fire, a war crime, 1500 degrees fahrenheit, death from inhalation, death from skin contact, delayed systemic effects, bones melting, a slow burn, cowardice, reignition, the national war crime of Israel.
The purpose of the image is to instill strength in those who are fighting for justice while documenting the crimes of Israel. Both the colors of the Palestinian flag and the Israeli flag are implemented. In creating this piece, I was very much aware of the censorship imposed on those who are speaking the truth about what is happening in Palestine currently. Due to this I wanted to create a beautiful image that would resonate with others without sharing the heartbreaking and bloody images of human suffering that accompanies this one.
Israel has been committing a genocide against the Palestinians for 75 years but Palestine will be free. Despite hell falling from the sky, the poppy grows tall in the foreground. For as long as we have Palestine on our minds, we all have the ability to rise up and demand justice.
After creating this image, local to Albuquerque, New Mexico, screen printing studio High Desert Debris reached out to print an edition of these prints to raise money for those suffering from the ongoing Nakba.
We printed a 5 color serigraph, edition at 80 prints. All prints were sold within two weeks and we were able to raise $4,913.00.
